The forms and documents you need to enter Hawaii // U.S. Citizen // as of February 2022!! + Some other tips.

Disclaimer- I’m only sharing my experience and what helped me. Please make sure to cross reference everything I say with your local embassy, the CDC, and any other legal entity that may affect your travel plans.

During the time of the trip I had my

•Pfizer vaccinations

•Booster - Moderna.

The booster is not mandatory for travel to Hawaii - (See “BOOSTER SHOTS WILL NOT BE ADDED TO SAFE TRAVELS HAWAIʻI REQUIREMENTS -Governor.Hawaii.gov)

Make sure to have completed your primary vaccination series 14 days prior to arrival.

Why?

To be fully considered vaccinated, “Your last dose must have been given a full 14 days before the day you board your flight to the United States...” (see CDC.gov for more). https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/proof-of-vaccination.html

This is what helped me skip the mandatory quarantine in Hawaii and ease through customs.

Tip-

Bring the actual copy but also have a picture on your phone and send one to your email- just in case! Show them the picture on your phone and if they ask for the actual card then you can show it to them. And!! Make sure to store it somewhere safely.

Complete this ahead of time, otherwise you’ll get stuck in the long line after passing the “Commuter Terminal.

I landed in Honolulu International Airport (HNL) and this was the process...

Exit the plane
Follow the crowd (yes I still do this sometimes 😂) to baggage claim.
Before arriving to baggage claim - you’ll have to pass through,

-The Commuter Terminal: Here you’ll show (1) Your vaccination status - or your negative COVID-19 test results (NAAT or antigen) - read more HERE & (2) HAWAII SAFE TRAVEL form.

To avoid getting stuck in the long line - make sure to have your health form filled out AHEAD OF TIME- to avoid delays and waiting in a long line.

Once they see your documents, you’ll get in line for Passport Control. Here they’ll just ask you for your identification (I brought my passport- but as a U.S. citizen you can also bring any valid government photo ID.
They asked me for my vaccination card, ID, and Hawaii health form. - very similar to #3 above.
That’s it. - once you pass Passport Control you’re good to go and you’ll arrive at Baggage claim and can get an Uber or take the bus to your desired destination.

❗️Hawaii Safe Travels restrictions will end on 03/25/2022 at 11:59pm (HST). Travelers arriving on 03/26/2022 and beyond will no longer be required to complete a Safe Travels application to enter Hawaii. - Travel.Hawaii.gov

The main reason behind this post was simply to remind someone if you are going before the Hawaii Health Form (Safe Travels Program) is lifted, which is said to be concluded at the end of March 25, 2022 (see Travel.Hawaii.gov)- then make sure to fill it out BEFORE HAND to reduce stress, worry, and time wasted so you can enjoy your trip to the fullest.

Don’t just “favorite” the picture on your phone, but save all the document pictures on your phone in an album and reference to it whenever you need it. This has helped make my life way easier when I do travel.

P.s - I had a negative Covid test just in case but I did not get tested to return to the U.S. mainland from Hawaii. Requirement vary based on vaccination status. It wasn’t requested during the time https://youtube.com/channel/UCJYZ-3M7nCX9iqfYp1zGy1gof my flight, but as I mentioned previously verify with your airlines, the CDC, and Hawaii’s governmental websites to ensure proper adherence to travel requirements.
