Solo Trip to Universal Studios 🎢🎠

I created this order based on the rides that interested me and had shorter wait times. However, during the end of my trip I realized I could enter the single rider lane and the wait time was way less than what was depicted on the Universal Studio app; using the single rider reduced the wait time drastically (wait time will vary by time and day of visit, special event, ride opening, etc.).

This list does not include all the rides at Universal. You can download the Universal Studios - Hollywood app and see all the rides or just Google them. Keep in mind, a ride that I may like may not be one that interests you, so adjust the order as you please.

Studio Tour (60-70 minutes).
Super Nintendo World (Virtual wait line) - Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge Note: The virtual wait line is to enter Super Nintendo World and once you enter you can go directly to the ride. Also! Some people may have Nintendo Power Up bands but it’s not required to ride the Mario Kart: Bowser Challenge right at Universal Studios.

Despicable Me - Minion Mayhem - Note: This ride isn’t really a rollercoaster but you sit on a car train and it motions up and down. It’s really fun!

Other things to do at Universal Studios - Hollywood besides getting on rides :

•Walk around Tour de France

•Pictures at the “Scenic View” and taking in the beautiful mountains.

•Pictures with famous characters. At Tour de France I saw Dracula and Frankenstein! Character appearances can vary. You can ask the staff when/what time a character will come out and the location at Universal Studios- Hollywood.

Tip: If you want to take cute pictures, aside from the scenic view (near the escalators/lower lot) there’s a small area near Tour de France where there’s a balcony and you’ll see the Tower viewer.

The rides typically tend to be short in length but long in wait (compared to the wait times- depending on the time/day you visit). Sometimes you find yourself waiting in line for 160 minutes for rides that only last 3 minutes. If you’re like me there’s no logic in it and it’s easy to become impatient!

To avoid long waits I recommend visiting during non-peak seasons and times (early morning seems to be less crowded even on Saturday’s - atleast during the time I visited).

Other Tips:

•Choose an off peak day/time to visit.

•Go early.

•Download the Universal Studios App to see the wait times, see a map/list of all the rides, shops, and restaurants, AND to sign up for the virtual lines if applicable.

•Single rider! Always use the single rider even if you think it will take longer. It ends up going pretty quickly. There were some estimated wait times of 140 or 60 minutes and by choosing the single rider lane, the wait time was less than 30 minutes.

Sometimes when they were closed I would ask the staff if it was open and tell them I was riding alone and some staff were kind enough to let me in.

This saved me a lot of time and I got to enjoy more rides and walking around the cute little worlds! 💕

•There are two lots (upper and lower lot). If you want to maximize your time, I recommend planning out your rides based on the lots - that way you don’t go back and forth.

•Bring your own refillable water bottle and snacks. There are restrooms and CLEAN water fountains in every area (Harry potter, Despicable Me, etc.)

•I recommend bringing snacks if you’re not looking to purchase overpriced food.

•Bring a charger and portable charger. Near the scenic view you can plug in your phone to power outlets

During the time Nintendo World opened! :) I rode the Mario Kart rollercoaster and it felt like I was in a video game.

Going alone: I never thought I would go to an amusement park alone but honestly it was worth it, it was fun, and a good experience.

Pros:

-You don’t have to stay in a group, compromise, or wait on people.

-You can choose the rides you want to go on and you don’t have to take time to do something you don’t want (ride a ride you don’t want to or wait for someone to finish riding a ride, etc.).

-You feel empowered doing things alone. - especially if it’s on your bucketlist and it’s an activity that you’ve desired to do for a while and you can’t coordinate schedules with others!

-If you enjoy walking you can do all the walking you want without feeling guilty for leaving someone behind.

-Your pace. You can change plans, you can choose to stay in a specific park location longer, you can rest/relax whenever you decide, you really have full control and autonomy of your schedule and your trip to Universal Studios.

I recommend going solo, to an amusement park, at least once. Just make sure to stay safe, have your phone fully charged (Note: I always try to bring a regular charger and a portable charger), let your trusted family members know where you are, and share your location.

There are charging ports near the scenic view sign/escalators.
